ICEHOUSE CYN. TRAILHEAD to TIMBER MTN. via CHAPMAN TRAIL
12.3 miles round

sunrise hiking Icehouse Canyon. It was once a popular vacation destination that still bares the foundational scars of mudslides and floods. This Canyon was home to numerous cabins and a resort (bellow) evidenced today by broad, rough-rock footings, allusive stone-work and the few remaining lodges that have survived through the years. A brief history of the Canyon can be found here.
The trail-head leads one past those active cabins and alongside a number of remains, many built by the Chapmans. The Canyon sings - even in summer - with the course of its rushing stream and reaching falls.
